Review the agreed result

  • The approved panel finish and positions match.
  • Doors clear fitted fillers and end panels.
  • Visible cuts and edges meet the agreed detail.
  • Required service access remains available.

Assessment checks wall irregularities, cabinet alignment, door swing, appliances and the actual panel dimensions. It distinguishes a decorative cover from a support component or removable service-access piece. Photographs show the overall finish goal, while final measurements may depend on cabinets being installed and stable rather than on the original room drawing alone.

Keep the completion sequence clear

The agreed process confirms cabinet positions, marks which panels belong at each exposed edge and obtains approval of visible joints. Panels are fitted using suitable methods for the system, with finishes protected. The final review checks appearance, door movement, plinth alignment and any access points that must remain removable for later service.

Decorative finishing does not authorize cutting structural elements, sealing required ventilation openings or permanently blocking service access. Stone fabrication, appliance alteration and refinishing mismatched panels are separate tasks. Where the selected piece cannot provide the agreed result, the owner should choose a replacement or revised detail before irreversible cutting proceeds.

Care after the visit

Use cleaning products appropriate to the panel finish and wipe spills before moisture reaches exposed edges. Keep the agreed access panels accessible. If a nearby appliance is later replaced, check the filler and clearance arrangement before forcing a different unit into the opening; removable trim may need to be refitted carefully.

Panels should match the cabinet system, finish and intended exposure. Edge treatment, joints and compatible fixings need to be identified in the quote. A visibly similar panel may have a different thickness or surface. Replacement supply for a misordered panel is separate from fitting labour, and damaged finished edges should be reviewed before cutting.

Keep a record of an unresolved item

Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.

  • Kitchen run showing each unfinished gap.
  • Panel labels, lengths and finish samples.
  • Close-up of walls, exposed edges and service openings.

Planning example

A new end panel looks continuous with the cabinet, but it covers an opening needed for later service. At review the owner asks whether that area was intended to remain accessible. The detail may need revision before acceptance. Finish quality includes practical access as well as a neat surface, and a clean photograph should not conceal a problem another contractor will discover at the next visit.
