Desk and workstation assembly: completion & aftercare

Review the agreed result and care instructions for desk and workstation assembly. Keep completion notes and unresolved items clear.

Furniture assembly service scope · All job topics

Review the agreed result

  • Desk orientation matches the agreed layout.
  • Drawers and included moving parts clear obstructions.
  • Cables are not trapped by moving furniture.
  • Equipment limits and unresolved issues are recorded.

The assessment matches the top to the specified frame, checks equipment clearance and identifies drawers, modesty panels and cable accessories. For height-adjustable products it records the exact model and supplied electrical components. Desk installation does not assess the building circuit or promise an ergonomic outcome from photographs alone.

Keep the completion sequence clear

The team inventories the frame and top, confirms orientation and assembles the furniture and agreed accessories to their instructions. Placement follows before checking drawer travel, foot contact and cable clearance. Where a powered desk is included, only the manufacturer user-level setup is performed; equipment is kept clear of moving sections during demonstration.

Furniture assembly excludes hardwired electrical work, network installation and modification of desk motors or controls. Wall-mounted worktops, heavy equipment brackets and damaged frames need their own scope. A sit-stand mechanism that faults or binds is not forced through its travel; the unresolved condition is documented for manufacturer or specialist support.

Care after the visit

Keep the desk manual and accessory limits together. After changing equipment, verify that cables still have adequate movement and that clamps suit the top. Stop using a powered function if a cable becomes damaged or the desk moves abnormally. New equipment or a changed monitor arrangement may require a fresh furniture check.

The manufacturer desktop, frame, feet and fixings should be a compatible set. Hollow or lightweight tops may not accept an arbitrary monitor clamp or screw pattern. Cable trays and drawers need suitable clearance throughout adjustment. Use supplied power components only as directed; damaged cables or uncertain electrical modifications require a separate qualified assessment.

Keep a record of an unresolved item

Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.

  • Desk model and all accessory labels.
  • Room corner showing the intended left or right return.
  • Desktop underside and any existing fixing damage.

Planning example

During the final demonstration, a cable becomes taut before a powered desk reaches its normal upper position. The desk is stopped and the cable arrangement reviewed without forcing the mechanism. This is a useful completion issue even when the frame and motor appear functional. The handover should leave the owner clear about which accessories were fitted and which computer connections they will manage themselves.

Downtown Toronto context

A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
