Furniture assembly throughout the home
Furniture arrives in many forms: IKEA flat packs with labelled panels, several heavy cartons, or special-order pieces shipped from China inside protective timber crates. We have experience planning and assembling both standard and complex deliveries. Homeharbor can help plan the assembly of shelving, cabinets, desks, tables and other owner-supplied furniture in Toronto and the GTA. Send the product names, dimensions, assembly instructions and photos of the packages with your request. The number and size of pieces help determine the tools, crew and time needed.
Projects can include beds and bedroom storage, wardrobes, dressers, dining sets, tables, desks, bookcases, media units, shelving, cabinets, entryway storage and other flat-pack or special-order household furniture. IKEA systems and furniture shipped from China are welcome. Share the specific models so we can assess handling, assembly, placement and any anchoring needs before confirming the job.
Condo furniture assembly has its own logistics. A service elevator may need reserving, work may be limited to certain hours, and narrow corridors can determine where large panels are unpacked. Measure the final location and the route from the delivery point before the visit. Tell us if any component needs to be carried upstairs or moved from storage.
From delivery to finished room
The work begins by checking the packages and identifying the pieces, fixings and instructions. Panels are laid out so hardware remains easy to find and finished surfaces are protected. Assembly then follows the manufacturer’s sequence, with attention to alignment, level surfaces, door and drawer clearance, and usable access around the finished furniture.
Some items require wall anchoring for stability. That depends on the product, wall construction, permitted fixings and condominium rules. Please identify any required anti-tip hardware and obtain building approval where applicable. Heavy stone tops, unusual crating, missing components or damaged parts should be disclosed in advance. A completed visit includes a final check of visible alignment and operation; packaging removal can be discussed in the booking notes because building disposal rules vary.
Furniture assembly project photos
These photos document one real project from incoming packages through unpacked components to installed furniture. The examples show the scale of the work; a booking estimate still depends on the exact items and property access.

Prepare for the assembly visit
- Send product links or model numbers, the number of units and photos of all boxes.
- Confirm that every carton and hardware packet has arrived; do not discard instructions.
- Clear an assembly area and confirm finished furniture will fit through the access route.
- Share service elevator, parking, loading and permitted work-hour details.
- Tell us about wall mounting, stone or glass tops, heavy lifting and packaging disposal.
If a piece is damaged or parts are missing, it is usually better to pause and resolve the issue with the seller than force a poor fit. For wall-mounted or tall units, indicate the wall type if known and provide the manufacturer's anchoring instructions.
Booking and timing
Use the online calendar to request a preferred date and time, then describe every item in the notes. The selected slot is a request; availability and the final scope are confirmed by text. Assembly time varies with the number of cartons, design complexity, missing hardware, site access and any anchoring or adjustment required. A clear list makes the booking more accurate and helps group related furniture work into one visit.
Homeharbor focuses on downtown Toronto condo assembly and also accepts furniture assembly bookings across the GTA. For a large delivery, tell us whether the pieces have already reached the unit or remain at a loading dock or storage area.
Frequently asked questions
Can multiple pieces be assembled in one visit?
Yes. List each item and its model number so the full visit can be planned.
Can you anchor a shelving unit to the wall?
Include the manufacturer's anchoring requirements and building rules with the request. Suitability depends on the wall and approved hardware.
Do you remove the packaging?
Describe the volume and your building's disposal rules in the booking notes so removal can be agreed in advance.
What if a part is missing or damaged?
Work on that item may need to stop while the replacement is arranged. Keep the packaging and instructions until the item has been checked.
