Plan the route from the loading area to your suite

Start with the place the vehicle can legally stand and follow the route to the room.

Describe the whole route

Start with the place the vehicle can legally stand and follow the route to the room. Include garage height restrictions, ramps, doors, stairs, elevator dimensions, corridors and tight turns. A postal address alone does not describe this route. For a move or large delivery, measure the item in its transport configuration and compare it with the route before arrival.

Reserve what the building actually requires

Ask management whether a service elevator, protective pads, loading bay or visitor registration is required for the particular job. Find out the available time window and what happens if a previous booking runs late. These are building-specific arrangements. Do not reserve facilities until the provider has confirmed the appointment and the time needed for the work.

Treat curb access as a separate issue

A building loading space does not automatically grant permission to park on the street. Street signs and current restrictions still apply. On the King Street transit-priority corridor, access and permitted movements require particular planning; a nearby intersection may be a better arrival reference than driving along King. Use the City’s current information instead of relying on an old route instruction.

Protect both ends of a move

The origin and destination need their own access descriptions. A vehicle or item that fits one garage may not fit the other. Compare both elevator windows before agreeing departure and arrival. Include a plan for holding packed items without obstructing corridors, exit routes or neighbours. A long carry can affect labour even when the driving distance is short.

Put access assumptions in the estimate

Explain expected parking cost, number of trips, carrying distance and any waiting allowance before agreeing a price. If the access arrangement changes, ask for a revised plan rather than allowing the appointment to expand silently. On arrival, follow posted signs and building directions. The service-area map is an orientation tool, not a parking authorization or a live traffic map.
