Review the agreed result

  • The run follows the agreed position and height.
  • Cabinets have the specified support arrangement.
  • Doors and appliance spaces clear their surroundings.
  • Readiness for the next trade is recorded.

The assessment compares the cabinet plan with measured floor variation, wall alignment and appliance requirements. It checks whether existing plumbing or sockets conflict with the proposed units, without including relocation in the cabinet task. The condition beneath old cabinets may only become visible after removal, so the estimate should identify that uncertainty.

Keep the completion sequence clear

The agreed sequence verifies the layout and floor conditions, assembles the units and establishes the intended aligned run using the manufacturer system. Appliance openings and front operation are checked before the next supplier proceeds. Any worktop readiness, remaining plinth work or unresolved floor concern is recorded instead of relying on a verbal assumption.

Cabinet levelling does not repair rotten floors, structural movement or moisture sources. Plumbing, gas and electrical disconnections remain separate regulated work. If floor conditions prevent stable support, installation pauses for an appropriate remedy. Worktop fitting or stone handling is included only where explicitly agreed and suitable for the appointed service.

Care after the visit

Keep the installation notes for the worktop or appliance supplier. Do not remove supports or plinth components to create storage space without checking their role. Report developing gaps, movement or wet areas promptly. If another contractor modifies a unit, ask them to confirm how the change affects support and the original layout.

Cabinet legs, rails, plinths and joining components must belong to the chosen system. Levelling materials and supports should suit the installation rather than masking a failing floor. Decorative end panels are not structural substitutes. Any missing component that affects support or worktop preparation should be identified before the run is treated as complete.

Keep a record of an unresolved item

Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.

  • Kitchen layout with each base-unit code.
  • Wide floor and wall views before installation.
  • Appliance openings and any exposed floor damage.

Planning example

After fitting, the cabinets appear aligned, but the opening for the selected appliance needs to be checked against its actual specification. The owner reviews that opening and the agreed worktop readiness with the installer before authorizing the next stage. The aim is a documented handover between tasks, rather than assuming that doors closing smoothly establishes every dimension required by another supplier.
