Why the price can differ
The useful pricing variables are the number of cabinet fronts, how thickly grease has accumulated, splashback texture and safe reach. A narrow galley with years of cooking film can take longer than a larger lightly used kitchen. The quote should identify whether hood exterior, cabinet tops, interiors and appliance faces are separate line items.
Compare a degreasing quote against another degreasing quote with the same cabinet count and accessible surfaces. A routine kitchen wipe usually assumes lighter soil and does not include the same repeated detail work. Request a written explanation when one estimate includes hood dismantling or cabinet interiors and the other covers only visible exterior surfaces.
Materials and included work
Product choice depends on the finished surface and the cleaner label. A soft cloth suitable for a laminate door may not be appropriate for unsealed wood or a delicate painted edge. The proposed method should favour controlled application and a small compatibility check; visible grease does not justify abrasive pads or stronger chemicals automatically.
Grease removal excludes repainting, wood restoration, fan dismantling, duct cleaning and movement of connected cooking appliances unless separately arranged with an appropriate provider. Etching, heat marks and a peeling clear coat can remain after soil is removed. Stop if the coating transfers to the cloth or the finish begins to change unexpectedly.
Ask these questions in writing
- Which cabinet faces, splashback areas and hood surfaces are included?
- How will the method accommodate my painted or wood cabinet finish?
- What happens if the coating changes before the grease is fully removed?
The assessment should identify cabinet finishes, splashback material, counter edges and the range hood exterior. Ask where cooking film feels tacky, whether earlier products changed the sheen, and whether grease extends above normal reach. Photos showing a full kitchen and one close detail help distinguish a focused degreasing visit from ordinary maintenance wiping.
Account for access and change approval
Confirm permission to enter the suite, usable water, and a clear standing area along the kitchen run. An island can limit access to lower doors when chairs occupy both sides. Hood interiors, the space behind a freestanding range and overhead cabinetry need separate discussion; an accessible exterior does not imply safe access inside equipment.
A remote appraisal can change after hands-on review. Ask what condition changed, which options are available and how the revision affects the scope before approving extra work. If a material gap remains unexplained after matching the scope, seek an independent second opinion.
Planning example
Two estimates look different because one lists only cupboard faces while the other includes the hood exterior and upper cabinet tops. The homeowner sends the same photographs and cabinet count to both providers, then asks for those items to be separated. The comparison becomes about accessible surfaces and buildup, making it possible to choose the desired scope without assuming the larger total is an overcharge.
Downtown Toronto context
A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
