Kitchen surface degreasing: completion & aftercare

Review the agreed result and care instructions for kitchen surface degreasing. Keep completion notes and unresolved items clear.

Review the agreed result

  • Agreed cabinet faces are free of removable sticky cooking film.
  • Handles and door edges have been checked without pooling liquid in seams.
  • Counter surfaces are cleared of cleaning residue and agreed items returned.
  • Any remaining discolouration or finish failure is identified in the handover.

The assessment should identify cabinet finishes, splashback material, counter edges and the range hood exterior. Ask where cooking film feels tacky, whether earlier products changed the sheen, and whether grease extends above normal reach. Photos showing a full kitchen and one close detail help distinguish a focused degreasing visit from ordinary maintenance wiping.

Keep the completion sequence clear

Start by recording pre-existing finish damage and clearing dry crumbs. Work through the agreed cabinet faces and splash areas in manageable sections, allowing the selected product only its labelled application time. Remove loosened residue, finish the counters after upper surfaces, and inspect handles and cabinet edges before returning agreed movable items to their places.

Grease removal excludes repainting, wood restoration, fan dismantling, duct cleaning and movement of connected cooking appliances unless separately arranged with an appropriate provider. Etching, heat marks and a peeling clear coat can remain after soil is removed. Stop if the coating transfers to the cloth or the finish begins to change unexpectedly.

Care after the visit

After the visit, remove fresh cooking splashes with a finish-compatible method before they harden. Use the cooking exhaust system as intended and keep the original cabinet care instructions available. Report any renewed tackiness at the next booking, distinguishing new cooking film from a finish that was already soft or damaged before cleaning.

Product choice depends on the finished surface and the cleaner label. A soft cloth suitable for a laminate door may not be appropriate for unsealed wood or a delicate painted edge. The proposed method should favour controlled application and a small compatibility check; visible grease does not justify abrasive pads or stronger chemicals automatically.

Keep a record of an unresolved item

Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.

  • Whole kitchen showing range and cupboard layout
  • Close view of the heaviest cooking film
  • Existing peeling paint or damaged cabinet edge

Planning example

At handover, the cabinet handles and nearby fronts no longer feel sticky, but one pale door still looks yellow beside its neighbour. The starting photograph shows the same colour difference. The homeowner records that the removable film was addressed and that discolouration remains. A later decision about refinishing can then be made separately without expecting another round of cleaning to restore the original colour.
