Get the room and items ready
Remove food, small electrical appliances and loose counter objects from the agreed working surfaces. Put away cooking oils and fragile décor, and identify any cupboard fronts awaiting repair. The stove must be cool. Tell the coordinator if recent refinishing means a particular cleaner or a waiting period is required before surface contact.
Product choice depends on the finished surface and the cleaner label. A soft cloth suitable for a laminate door may not be appropriate for unsealed wood or a delicate painted edge. The proposed method should favour controlled application and a small compatibility check; visible grease does not justify abrasive pads or stronger chemicals automatically.
Plan access and the order of work
Confirm permission to enter the suite, usable water, and a clear standing area along the kitchen run. An island can limit access to lower doors when chairs occupy both sides. Hood interiors, the space behind a freestanding range and overhead cabinetry need separate discussion; an accessible exterior does not imply safe access inside equipment.
Start by recording pre-existing finish damage and clearing dry crumbs. Work through the agreed cabinet faces and splash areas in manageable sections, allowing the selected product only its labelled application time. Remove loosened residue, finish the counters after upper surfaces, and inspect handles and cabinet edges before returning agreed movable items to their places.
Photographs that clarify this task
- Whole kitchen showing range and cupboard layout
- Close view of the heaviest cooking film
- Existing peeling paint or damaged cabinet edge
The assessment should identify cabinet finishes, splashback material, counter edges and the range hood exterior. Ask where cooking film feels tacky, whether earlier products changed the sheen, and whether grease extends above normal reach. Photos showing a full kitchen and one close detail help distinguish a focused degreasing visit from ordinary maintenance wiping.
Know the limit before arrival
Grease removal excludes repainting, wood restoration, fan dismantling, duct cleaning and movement of connected cooking appliances unless separately arranged with an appropriate provider. Etching, heat marks and a peeling clear coat can remain after soil is removed. Stop if the coating transfers to the cloth or the finish begins to change unexpectedly.
Send the service, property postal code, preferred date and the relevant preparation details together. Share private access instructions only when arranging the actual visit.
Planning example
A galley kitchen contains a coffee maker, knife block and bottles along the entire counter. Clearing those items before the visit gives access to the splashback without asking the cleaner to handle cords and blades. The resident leaves the range cool and marks one recently refinished drawer. That drawer can follow its own care instructions while the other agreed surfaces remain available for work.
Downtown Toronto context
A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
