Get the room and items ready
Agree a realistic sequence with buffers for departure, travel and check-in. Verify destination keys and possession arrangements before loading items that cannot easily be stored temporarily.
Use a shared inventory, room labels and an accessible contact sheet. Protect personal access information and distinguish owner-held essentials from items travelling in the main vehicle.
Plan access and the order of work
Check both routes independently. Front Street traffic, a waterfront loading entrance and a west-end destination can create different constraints even when the two homes appear close on a map.
Confirm destination readiness before departure, reconcile the loading inventory and communicate delays early. On arrival, direct items to labelled rooms before the crew begins moving furniture through completed areas.
Photographs that clarify this task
- Origin loading route
- Destination loading route
- Labelled room placement plan
Collect loading rules, elevator windows, suite access arrangements and site contacts for both properties. Confirm who can authorize decisions if the resident cannot be present at each location.
Know the limit before arrival
A service provider cannot guarantee possession, public-road conditions or a building’s unapproved extension. Storage, overnight holding or an additional trip must be discussed explicitly rather than assumed.
Send the service, property postal code, preferred date and the relevant preparation details together. Share private access instructions only when arranging the actual visit.
Planning example
The resident confirms possession of the destination and arranges for an authorized person to meet the crew there. Both buildings’ loading instructions are shared, and the room labels match the new layout. Keys and owner-held essentials remain outside the main load. A contact sheet identifies who can approve schedule changes without requiring the driver to search old messages while parked at a locked entrance.
Downtown Toronto context
A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
