Review the agreed result
- Blind fit accepted before permanent work
- Ordinary operation demonstrated
- Required supplied safety parts addressed
- Incorrect or missing parts documented
Check the blind model, measured dimensions, inside or outside mounting design and included brackets. Compare the product with the actual opening and operating clearances. Review window-handle movement, sill depth and building restrictions, then confirm whether installation can proceed without modifying the window assembly.
Keep the completion sequence clear
Confirm the product fit and approved mounting position, install according to its documentation and demonstrate ordinary operation. Check for interference with handles or doors. If the size is wrong or safety components are missing, defer installation and document what the owner needs to obtain.
Electrical blind connections, motor wiring, window modifications and altering products contrary to their instructions are excluded. An owner-supplied blind is not automatically suitable because it was sold as universal. Missing required child-safety components or incompatible mounting surfaces are reasons to stop the affected work.
Care after the visit
Operate the blind as demonstrated and follow the manufacturer cleaning and safety guidance. Keep required safety devices in place and do not improvise replacement cords or brackets. If the headrail loosens, operation binds or components fail, stop use and contact the appropriate installer or manufacturer.
The supplied product must include the correct headrail, brackets, safety components and manufacturer documentation. Replacement parts need to match that model rather than merely resemble the originals. The materials allowance should distinguish installation consumables from missing product hardware or a blind that needs returning.
Keep a record of an unresolved item
Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.
- Product label and complete kit
- Whole opening with handles and sill
- Existing blind and current mounting surface
Planning example
After installation, the owner checks ordinary blind movement and window-handle clearance with the installer. The required product safety components are addressed according to the supplied instructions. A blind that moves smoothly but interferes with the balcony door does not meet the agreed clearance outcome. The completion record identifies any product limitation and retains the model information for a later manufacturer query or replacement part.
Downtown Toronto context
A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
