Get the room and items ready
Lay out the new hardware by cabinet location and retain the supplied screws and packaging. Provide the measured hole spacing and a photograph of one existing handle removed only if safe to do so. Empty affected drawers and identify any fronts you do not want altered.
Handles, knobs, fixing screws and any decorative backing plates need to match the cabinet thickness and chosen appearance. Screw length is a compatibility issue, not a reason to improvise a replacement. Filling unused holes, drilling new patterns and finish matching must be specified separately.
Plan access and the order of work
The worker needs access inside each door or drawer to reach the rear fixings. Clear stored breakables, remove under-sink obstructions without disturbing plumbing and protect nearby countertops. Tall upper cabinets or tight appliance gaps may change the handling needed for otherwise identical hardware.
Confirm a sample handle and orientation before completing the full group. Check fit, clearance and appearance, then proceed with the approved hardware pattern. If existing holes or cabinet material are damaged, pause the affected item and obtain agreement on repair or an alternative finish.
Photographs that clarify this task
- Existing handles across all front types
- New product label and hole spacing
- Inside fixings and damaged holes
Count doors and drawers, compare existing hole spacing with the new handles and inspect the cabinet material around the fixings. Check handle clearance against adjacent fronts and appliances. Note any loose fronts or damaged holes, since those may need a separate repair before new hardware is fitted.
Know the limit before arrival
This scope does not include electrical handles, appliance modifications, extensive cabinet rebuilding or invisible refinishing guarantees. New hole patterns may leave visible marks even after filling. Fragile laminate or damaged particleboard can prevent a simple swap and should be documented before additional work is approved.
Send the service, property postal code, preferred date and the relevant preparation details together. Share private access instructions only when arranging the actual visit.
Planning example
The owner sorts the supplied handles and screws by door and drawer type. A photograph reveals that drawer fronts are thicker than the cabinet doors, so identical supplied screws may not suit both. Measuring and identifying those differences before booking supports an accurate materials list. The worker can also plan a sample approval instead of discovering fit and finish problems after changing the whole kitchen.
Downtown Toronto context
A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
