Review the agreed result

  • Retained and replacement components identified
  • Shelf position matches accepted scope
  • Visible finish and alignment reviewed
  • Use limitations and unresolved defects recorded

Assess the shelf dimensions, bracket model, number of supports, intended contents and current wall condition. Existing shelf movement may come from the wall, fixings, bracket or shelf itself. The appraisal should identify which parts need replacement and whether the intended arrangement can be accepted.

Keep the completion sequence clear

Agree on the supported shelf layout, confirm the suitability of retained components and install only the approved arrangement. Review the finish and explain the actual use limitations. Any damaged substrate exposed during removal should be reported before additional repairs or revised support locations are undertaken.

The service excludes structural redesign, unidentified damaged walls and blanket load certification. Adding more brackets is not automatically a remedy for an unsuitable substrate or weak shelf board. If the existing installation is visibly unstable, keep people and valuable items away until an appropriate assessment occurs.

Care after the visit

Use the shelf only within the specific product and installation limitations provided. Check for changing gaps, movement or sagging during ordinary use and request reassessment if any develops. Avoid adding concentrated heavy objects to an arrangement originally approved for light decorative storage.

Brackets, shelf board and attachment materials should be listed separately, with compatibility checked against product information and the confirmed wall. Reusing parts is conditional on their condition. Cosmetic caps, paint and old-hole repairs should be specified rather than assumed to accompany a bracket replacement.

Keep a record of an unresolved item

Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.

  • Shelf underside and all brackets
  • Close view of damaged support area
  • Whole wall and nearby access obstacles

Planning example

The installed shelf looks level, but old fixing marks remain visible below one bracket. The written estimate states whether those marks were included for repair or intentionally left outside scope. The owner reviews both the accepted support arrangement and cosmetic finish before completion. Any desired filling or repainting is discussed as an identified task instead of being confused with whether the bracket installation itself was completed.

Downtown Toronto context
