Review the agreed result
- Constraining dimensions are recorded.
- Approved disassembly is identified.
- Hardware remains matched to the item.
- No unapproved building alteration is attempted.
Measure the furniture and each constrained opening, including turn space and elevator depth. Include removable legs, protruding arms and the ceiling clearance needed when changing an item’s orientation.
Keep the completion sequence clear
Confirm measurements, decide whether safe manufacturer-compatible disassembly is feasible and record the route. Stop for reassessment when real dimensions or construction differ from the information supplied.
No guarantee should be made from a single photograph. Building alterations, balcony hoisting and structural disassembly are outside routine household moving unless separately assessed by an appropriate specialist.
Care after the visit
Reassemble only the agreed components and review visible joints and operation. Keep original hardware organized and report a fit issue before loading additional items into the same obstructed route.
Use suitable padding and documented component bags. Any disassembly tools must match the furniture’s fittings; forcing a connector can damage a reusable joint before the item reaches the hallway.
Keep a record of an unresolved item
Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.
- Furniture dimensions and protrusions
- Tightest turn with measurements
- Elevator opening and interior depth
Planning example
The item passes along the assessed route after only the manufacturer-compatible leg removal that was agreed. At destination, the hardware is reconciled and the sofa checked for stability before use. If a component had failed to clear the turn, the appropriate response would have been reassessment rather than force. Completion includes the condition and hardware review as well as reaching the new suite.
Downtown Toronto context
A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
