Clothes and wardrobe packing: preparation & access

Prepare the room, materials, photos and building access for clothes and wardrobe packing before the appointment is confirmed.

Packing & unpacking service scope · All job topics

Get the room and items ready

Set aside a small working wardrobe and choose items to donate before packing starts. Empty pockets and identify footwear or accessories that should remain paired.

Agree on hanging wardrobe cartons, folded-clothing containers and clean covers where appropriate. Avoid packing damp garments or placing adhesive directly against fabric and finished wardrobe surfaces.

Plan access and the order of work

Measure the route from closets to staging space. Tall wardrobe cartons need enough clearance through suite doors and may consume substantial elevator space on a condo move.

Pack by person and destination closet, retain paired items together and label the exterior discreetly. Keep immediately needed clothing separate from less frequently worn seasonal items.

Photographs that clarify this task

  • Full hanging rails
  • Drawer or folded clothing volume
  • Closet doorway and staging route

Count hanging rails and drawers rather than only bedrooms. Distinguish ordinary clothing, delicate fabrics, bulky coats and pieces that need the owner’s specialist care instructions.

Know the limit before arrival

Packing support is not dry cleaning, stain treatment or textile conservation. Delicate, luxury or sentimental clothing needs explicit instructions rather than an assumed one-method-fits-all approach.

Send the service, property postal code, preferred date and the relevant preparation details together. Share private access instructions only when arranging the actual visit.

Planning example

Before packing, the resident keeps several days of clothing and the shoes needed for work in a personal bag. Pockets are emptied and paired accessories grouped together. A clean staging area is set aside for wardrobe cartons, away from a damp balcony doorway. The helper can now pack by destination closet without repeatedly reopening cartons to find the next day’s outfit.

Downtown Toronto context

A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
