Review the agreed result
- Loose debris is removed from the agreed accessible interior channel.
- No water is pooled against the interior floor or threshold.
- Door movement and hardware are unchanged after the work.
- Inaccessible sections, leaks or damaged seals are recorded.
Identify the door type, the portion of track accessible from inside and any loose seals or damaged edges. Ask whether the door moves normally and whether water has entered previously. Photographs should show the track with the door in its usual open position. Record drainage openings without assuming they should be probed, altered or filled during cleaning.
Keep the completion sequence clear
Record pre-existing damage and door movement, collect loose interior grit, then brush and wipe only the accessible agreed channel. Avoid forcing debris into drainage openings or hardware. Dry the treated area, return the door to its normal position and check that movement is unchanged. Report persistent water, damaged seals or inaccessible buildup for the appropriate maintenance provider.
This task excludes drain clearing, roller adjustment, door removal, seal replacement and all exterior high-rise access work. Cleaning cannot correct a track that is bent or a building envelope leak. Do not force a sticking door to gain reach. A maintenance concern should be reported separately rather than hidden by an assumption that every threshold problem is accumulated dirt.
Care after the visit
Remove ordinary loose grit periodically from the interior channel using the door-compatible method. Keep mats positioned so they do not obstruct door movement or known drainage features. If water enters, record the weather and location and notify the appropriate building or maintenance contact. Repeated cleaning is not a substitute for investigating a leak or a failing door assembly.
Use soft brushes and suitable dry-debris collection tools for the accessible interior channel, with only a finish-compatible controlled wipe where permitted. Keep liquid away from vulnerable interior floor seams. Do not use a pressure washer or pour water through a track to test drainage. The door maker’s instructions govern any specialised coating or removable component encountered.
Keep a record of an unresolved item
Compare the result with the approved written scope. Record any unfinished item, agreed exclusion or required specialist follow-up separately. Use ordinary observation and the provider’s demonstration; do not overload or destructively test an installation.
- Door and track viewed from inside
- Close-up of accessible grit and channel shape
- Damaged seal or location of previous water entry
Planning example
At completion, the resident checks that loose grit has been removed from the agreed channel and that no moisture remains against the interior flooring. The door behaves as it did before; the original sticking is recorded for maintenance. A previously noted water mark is also retained in the record. The review confirms the cleaning boundary without treating it as a test of drainage or building-envelope performance.
Downtown Toronto context
A home near Union Station or CityPlace may have separate lobby and loading entrances. Include the actual service route, postal code and any building permissions. See the downtown focus perimeter and GTA enquiry guide before requesting a date.
