Put repairs, assembly, painting, moving and cleaning in order

Ask which job must be finished before the next can begin.

Start with the dependency

Ask which job must be finished before the next can begin. A cabinet run must be checked before a separate countertop provider measures it. Painting preparation should be complete before final cleaning. A large wardrobe may need assembly inside its destination room because the finished unit cannot pass through the doorway. Build the schedule around those dependencies, not just the earliest available appointment.

Keep wet work and clean work distinct

Paint, caulk and other finishing products have product-specific drying or curing requirements. Surface-dry does not always mean ready for furniture, cleaning or normal contact. Follow the relevant instructions and agree when the next service can enter. Do not book a final clean while sanding, drilling or disruptive work is still underway in the same area.

Plan an empty-home window

A move creates an opportunity to reach floors, cupboards and corners before belongings arrive. Confirm possession, keys and building access before placing appointments into that window. If deliveries overlap, identify the rooms that remain accessible and the priorities that can still be completed. A possession date is not the same as a working access plan.

Use separate scopes for separate services

Bundling a visit can reduce repeated travel, but it should not make the responsibilities vague. List assembly, repairs, painting and cleaning as distinct tasks. State which materials are supplied, who handles packaging or waste and what inspection ends each stage. If a specialist trade is involved, confirm who coordinates that work before relying on a combined completion date.

Allow a decision point

Hidden damage, missing furniture parts or an incompatible bracket may change the sequence. Build in a way to report the issue and obtain approval instead of substituting an unagreed task. A realistic schedule includes access and product constraints. The booking calendar requests a time; it is not an automatically confirmed multi-trade project timetable.
